PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

  • Inspect the fuses and relays related to this system before inspecting the suspected areas below.

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 1 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 1 is below 54 Ω.

Short in Bus 1 Lines

Any of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short to +B in a CAN bus line (CANH or CANL) in Bus 1 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CANH and +B in Bus 1 is below 6 kΩ.
  • Resistance between CANL and +B in Bus 1 is below 6 kΩ.

Short to +B in Bus 1 Line

Any of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short to ground in a CAN bus line (CANH or CANL) in Bus 1 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CANH and ground in Bus 1 is below 200 Ω.
  • Resistance between CANL and ground in Bus 1 is below 200 Ω.

Short to GND in Bus 1 Line

Resistance between CANH and CANL is normal in Bus 1 and the problem symptom pattern in How to Use "Communication Bus Check" Screen in Inspection matches the symptoms when there is an open in one wire of a branch line in Bus 1.

Open in One Side of Bus 1 Branch Line

Either of the following:

  • The problem symptom is that of Problem Symptom Pattern B and the suspected area is in Bus 2.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 2 is 70 Ω or more.

Open in Bus 2 Main Bus Line

Either of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 2 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 2 is below 54 Ω.

Short in Bus 2 Lines

Any of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short to +B in a CAN bus line (CANH or CANL) in Bus 2 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CANH and +B in Bus 2 is below 6 kΩ.
  • Resistance between CANL and +B in Bus 2 is below 6 kΩ.

Short to +B in Bus 2 Line

Any of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short to ground in a CAN bus line (CANH or CANL) in Bus 2 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CANH and ground in Bus 2 is below 200 Ω.
  • Resistance between CANL and ground in Bus 2 is below 200 Ω.

Short to GND in Bus 2 Line

Either of the following:

  • The problem symptom is that of Problem Symptom Pattern B and the suspected area is in Bus 3.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 3 is 70 Ω or more.

Open in Bus 3 Main Bus Line

Either of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 3 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 3 is below 54 Ω.

Short in Bus 3 Lines

Any of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short to +B in a CAN bus line (CANH or CANL) in Bus 3 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CANH and +B in Bus 3 is below 6 kΩ.
  • Resistance between CANL and +B in Bus 3 is below 6 kΩ.

Short to +B in Bus 3 Line

Any of the following:

  • Resistance between CANH and ground in Bus 3 is below 200 Ω.

Short to GND in Bus 3 Line

Resistance between CANH and CANL is normal in Bus 3 and the problem symptom pattern in How to Use "Communication Bus Check" Screen in Inspection matches the symptoms when there is an open in one wire of a branch line in Bus 3.

Open in One Side of Bus 3 Branch Line

Either of the following:

  • The problem symptom is that of Problem Symptom Pattern B and the suspected area is in Bus 4.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 4 is 70 Ω or more.

Open in Bus 4 Main Bus Line

Either of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 4 is suspected.
  • Resistance between CAN bus lines (CANH and CANL) in Bus 4 is below 54 Ω.

Short in Bus 4 Lines

Any of the following:

  • The problem symptom is similar to that of Problem Symptom Pattern A and a short to +B in a CAN bus line (CANH or CANL) in Bus 4 is suspected.

Open in One Side of Bus 5 Branch Line

HINT:

The suspected communication stop area can be determined based on the ECUs or sensors that are displayed as not communicating on the "Communication Bus Check" screen or "Communication Bus Check (Detail)" screen and by referring to the following table.

Either of the following is met:

  • Communication stop history for "Air Conditioning Amplifier" is indicated on the "Communication Bus Check (Detail)" screen of the Techstream. (The Lost Communication Time value for "Air Conditioning Amplifier" is 6 or more.)

Air Conditioning Amplifier Communication Stop Mode

Either of the following is met:

  • Communication stop for "Power Steering (EPS)" is indicated on the "Communication Bus Check" screen of the Techstream.

Power Steering ECU Communication Stop Mode

Either of the following is met:

  • Communication stop for "Spiral cable (Steering Angle Sensor)" is indicated on the "Communication Bus Check" screen of the Techstream.

Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode

Either of the following is met:

  • Communication stop for "ECM (Engine)" is indicated on the "Communication Bus Check" screen of the Techstream.

Either of the following is met:

Headup Display Communication Stop Mode

Either of the following is met:

Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor Communication Stop Mode

Either of the following is met:

  • Communication stop for "Parking Assist Monitor System / Rear Camera" is indicated on the "Communication Bus Check" screen of the Techstream.

Rear Television Camera Communication Stop Mode

Either of the following is met:

Front Camera Module Communication Stop Mode

Although CAN communication is currently normal, an ECU connected to the CAN communication system has CAN communication DTCs.

The probable part for which communication is interrupted can be determined using DTC Combination Table and comparing the DTCs output from ECUs connected to the CAN communication system.
